EMDR intensives offer treatment in a condensed format. This can be a good option for those who have schedules that do not allow for weekly appointments or simply for those who want to work in a condensed format. For example, one 3-hour session in a single day is the equivalent of 3 weekly 60-minute sessions.
EMDR intensives are typically 2 or 3 hours but can be longer, extending to a full day or several days at a time. Your goals for therapy will help determine how long therapy will take. While in some cases one 3-hour intensive session may be enough to work through the impact of a single incident traumatic experience, that is not always the case. EMDR intensives are less about completing all of the work in one day and more about providing an opportunity to work through more content than would be possible in a single 60-minute session.
Saturdays are reserved for EMDR intensives. EMDR intensives are also available during weekdays.
EMDR intensives are offered both in person in Winnipeg and online for clients in MB, SK, AB, BC, NT, YT, NU, and NL.
If you are a new client interested in EMDR intensives, an initial 60-minute session is required prior to booking an intensive. This will give us a chance to talk through your goals for therapy, ensure that the intensive format is a good fit going forward and, if time permits, begin some treatment planning.
